Cancer Program

The International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) published a list of the causal relationship findings of 21 specific cancers which are scientifically and statistically credible as occurring more frequently in first responder occupations.

These include: bladder, brain, breast, colon, esophagus, kidney, lung, melanoma, mesothelioma, multiple myeloma, non-Hodgkin lymphoma, cervical, ovarian, Leukemia, pancreatic, prostrate, rectal, skin, stomach, testicular, and thyroid. MFFCIP provides benefits to members diagnosed with one of these cancers, and others may be added in the future. Benefits are paid to the individual based on the coverage limit selected, as well as the type and stage of cancer.

Additionally, the MFFCIP has identified 8 additional cancer diagnoses which could be eligible for a supplemental benefit, including; bone, eye, Hodgkin's  disease, intestine, larynx, liver, buccal cavity/pharynx, and soft tissue sarcoma.
